SR Uber Wootin' Writers Blog #12~Amanda

Hey ya'll!!!!

I see no one has posted in a few weeks so I guess I will post one now. Christmas is Saturday and as I think about this past year I think about how fast it went. When I really think about it I think about how it feels like Mt. Rushmore just happened like 2 weeks ago. It's heard to believe that MTR was the last time I seen most of you. So my question to all of you is what were our favorite memories of this past year. It can be SR related or it can be something at school or anyhting else in your life.

  1. Okay, so I know this isn't this year but it is one of my most absolute favorite memories ever! So we had a school show in Postville, IA and our new song for the year was YMCA. Steve and Jordan had not taught the choreography yet, but Steve wanted to show it off, so in the middle of the show he and I go out into the hall while Jordan and the rest of the group played Cotten Eye Joe (don't ask me why I remember the exact song, I don't really know.) Anyways, we checked the door to the aud. to make sure we wouldn't get locked out, and we both thought it was. So he taught me the choreography in the amount of time it took to play that one song. We turn around to go back in and the doors were locked. We had to see if the mic would work through the doors. When Steve said "We seemed to be locked out" I could see Jordan, and I still to this day remember his face as he looked at us. This memory will probably live on in my mind forever, because really, who would ever think of this actually happening???
From this year though dear Lord! There are way to many memories...I would guess my top ones would all have to do with Nashville Mission Week, and that 10 day (I think) of people putting up with Alex and I being together for that long. Way to many stories to put on here...Let's just say when you have him and I in one car for that long, and when it is 1:30 in the morning Watch Out!!! Videos are made, and our crazy randomness is taken up about 30,000 notches!!!

  2. My favorite memories of 2010 would have to be MTR, St. Louis, and The Hartford Apple Festival.
MTR- i mean just going and being able to see everyone that i hadnt seen in a year, its just amazing. Then having all of us get together in one gym and practice for 7 hours....it just puts a smile on my face. There are so many memories from that trip that i cant even name them all but i will say that it was the best Easter i have ever had :)
St. Louis- the first day was missions, and i went to the school with all the little kids and played for them. Now all the lids came up with their own little talent show and it was so adorable. But the thing that i loved the most was coming back to our hosts house, Carol Love, i saw my twin. Sierra Frech. I hadnt seen her since i was 12 and to see her at 15 was a huge difference. It made that trip so amazing that i cant even put it into words.
Hartford Apple Festival- There was this little girl named Andie. She was 2 years old when her grandfather accidentally ran over her with his tractor. She lost her leg but not her life, and at three she was still healing from it. I asked her mother if i had permission to bring her up to drum with me and her mother said yes. So when we get to the guest drumming song I walked over and asked for Andie. She came willingly to me and i carried her over to my drums. Now Steve always talks between songs and i gave Andie my sticks and she just hit my drums to her hearts content while Steve was talking. the came and went and she didnt want to let go of me. I handed her back to her mother, who was close to tears, and she just said "thank you so much for this" I mean that was so moving that a three year old little girl can have such an effect on a person. After the show i gave her my bright neon green drumsticks that she didnt want to put down and i wrote on them "never look back and just keep going forward and things will work out" (or something of that effect) Andie's eyes just lit right up. That little girl will forever hold a place in my heart.

  3. Oh my goodness....there are wayyy to many memories to put down here...
    -First off..I GRADUMACATED!! LOL
-Skipping school for three days so I could go to a school show and a few other shows and getting to spend 3 solid days with Steve and Jordan was awesome!
-Driving to Hoyleton, IL (4 hours) by myself to do a show, then driving about an hour and a half to Union, MO for another show in one day, then spending the night with Kathy Post (Princess), driving another hour and a half south to do another show, then driving 4 hours home to Ashton's house (in hail and 70 mile per hour winds), then spending the night with her, then getting up the next day and going to the Iowa State Fair was a pretty SWEET 3 days!! These were my last few shows for the summer.
-Then there was Nashville Mission trip where I got to meet tons of wonderful SR family!
-Then SSDB! Where I got to meet tons more SR family!
-Of course surviving my first semester of college is a huge memory and all the friends I made!
2010 was an amazing year and I wouldn't have traded it for any other year!
Have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy 2011!! Love you all! :)

  4. Saint Louis was awesome! Also going to Minneota, MN to do a show with Sioux Falls and Watertown. The Minneapolis missions trip was great too. The show where Kelli met Amanda Two... Mount Rushmore goes without saying.... Playing at Saint Paul Box City, with my pastor cheering for me the whole time. (I mean it. The WHOLE time.) The show at Le Suer, when Alec dragged me off to get a Taco-in-a-Bag.... Going to Chipotle after Rochester Box City... And the show in Blue Earth, MN, where our stage was this big BOX with no air circulation and it was miserably hot (not sure why it made the list, but it did...)

  6. Highlight of 2010 was definitely... ok, so there are too many to choose from, and most of them would probably be SR related. So I'm going with the school show in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

This show sticks out to me because of the awesome kids we met there. We did 45 min workshops for each of the grade levels, and all of them had a chance to ask questions afterward. The third graders' questions blew me away. They were asking so many great questions that Steve eventually handed the answers over to the rest of us drummers. It was a cool opportunity, and you could tell that those third graders were taking in every moment of it.
