SR Uber Wootin' Writers Blog #8- Sonja!

Hello, All!

In this day and age, it's easy to find evidence that we are living in a broken world. We see crime in the papers, we hear about how people are losing their jobs, we read about war, hate, and hunger.

But if you look hard enough, we find little glimmers of hope. A few months ago, my archery team had a car wash. While I was working, a man walked by. No car to wash. He didn't want to buy pizza or a soda. He just GAVE us some money for our team. Similar things kept happening. People would give us way too much money, then refuse the change that I brought them. It really stuck me how these people didn't know me. They didn't know my school. They probably didn't have some deep interest in archery. They were just being kind.

Tell everyone about the glimmers of hope in YOUR life. Let's light up the world!

Happy Halloween, everyone! What're you all doing for Halloween?

  3. Okay, so as many people know over my fall break (the past four days) I traveld to shows and practices with Steve and Jordan in Iowa and Minnesota. Two consecutive trips to the gas station, and I find myself with the cleark saying that my gas was just paid for by the older gentleman walking out the door. By the time I would get out there to thank them they would be in their car and driving away so I actualy couldn't thank them in person. I actualy began to wonder if I had a flashing neon sign that said college student with no money and very much into debt already above my head, but both Steve AND Jordan confirmed that their is no giant sign. So there really are good people out in the world. These two older men did a great thing for me, and I am really appreciative of it. This month is Random Acts of Kindness month. How are you going to show kindness to others? It doesn't need to be paying for a full tank of gas, it can be as simple as a smile as you walk past or holding the door open for someone.

    Have a great day! :)

  4. I went to a Halloween party where my classmate premiered his new movie! He makes movies and videos, some of them are really quite good. I bet he gets famous one day. I didn't have a good costume, just wore a hooded cloak.

Kristen- Themed costumes! I like it!

Colleen- Canning apple sauce sounds kind of cool, in a way. Wow! Also, that guy is awesome!

Kelli- Nope, no giant sign. That's really cool, though.

  6. Kelli- that's awesome! I didn't know it was random act of kindness month! That's so cool that someone would pay for a full tank of gas for a stranger.

My halloween was pretty quiet. My plans changed like five times... I was going to go to Tonia's haunted house, but I just got so tired I couldn't. (sorry, Tonia :( )

Anyway, this month is not only random act of kindness month, it's also National Novel Writing Month.

  10. November is also National Adoption Month, Peanut Butter Lover's Month, Epilepsy Awareness Month, Harvest Month, Aviation History Month, Doll Collection Month, International Drum Month. Some specific "holidays" include Prime Meridian Day (1), Sandwhich Day (2), Name Your Car Day (2), Saxophone Day (6), Teddy Bear Day (14), Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day (14), and Cake Day (26). There are many more, but I didn't want to write down even more and should get back to doing school work...

  12. For Halloween I went with my friend to her uncles house to pass out candy. It was so fun!! Then, we went to my house and she spent the night! We were painting and using oil pastels!! It was great. THEN, after all that funness my sister Jen and Sarah came over and we all played cards for like 2 hours :)

With the glimmers of hope.. I have no clue why but I can't think of anything. I will answer it though!!! My brain just isn't working today. >_<

  14. My birthday is on national air conditioner appreciation day, but sadly I never get to celebrate it because I am either working at camp, or doing an outdoor show where the sun is hotter than all getout and I am getting burned to a lobster crisp!

A bunch of my friends here at school are doing no shave November too. One of them gives me a hug every Wed. night after our Euchy service and tends to rub his chin in my neck because of the stuble and he know it makes me laugh...I can only imagine what it will be like at the end of the month... :S
