Going In Circles

Well, I have decided it is that time of year...or at least one of those times of years.  I know that as May gets going, we all tend to find ourselves in a whirlwind of end of the school year things (tests for you guys, graduation if appropriate, etc) and for me...wrapping up of school shows before summer begins.  It always seems that many things get lost in the shuffle this time of year...and communication on the Blog has been one of them...I have had very little posting time, and you guys have had very little commenting time.  It is understandable on both ends, but for those who have heard the Gob Story by now...the point of that story truly is not putting off until tomorrow what should be done today, and that even goes for something that we all love to do...simply talking to each other!  It is one of the best parts of connecting with others...simply sharing something in your life...and laughing about it, or even crying about it.  SO...here is what we are going to do in this particular blog...each person who comments needs to describe the most FUN thing they did in the past 7-10 days that is NOT NOT NOT related to anything about SR, drums, or even mission...because sometimes we just need to take a break from what we love the most...and in this case...I want everyone to do the following in this order.

1.  Sit down, in case you are reading this standing up!
2.  Take a deep breath and relax.
3.  Think of the most fun thing you have done that you want to share on here.
4.  Post your comment....then read and comment on other posts.
5.  Finally, give thanks to God for this moment of peace and tranquiity amongst the business of life...and then, take more of these moments for yourself...because even when the point of the Gob story is about not putting off until tomorrow what you could/should do today...it includes...taking a moment for yourself...to be thankful for all in your life...and to take a deep breath and just slowly let it out...savoring the moment.  I think we no longer have enough  moments in life like this!

For all of you...my most fun non-SR thing in the past 7-10 days was dinner/movie night out with my friend Nancy this past Thursday evening...the one day a month that I am always home to be able to do that.  Nancy is a teacher and has had a very rough year, as many teachers have had, and she needed a night just to laugh...and we spent a very fun-filled dinner laughing about nothing really...just stupid things we had done in the last week...talking about past memories we have shared...relieving old TV shows we love (like my current old favorite, the Dick Van Dyke show...boy did those folks KNOW how to act and how to make a person laugh!)...and then, following dinner, we put on the 3-D glasses to learn how to train our pet dragon...which by the way...I have always wanted a pet dragon, and wished they truly existed.

So, there is my moment for you all to think about...and I am smiling reliving it...

And, now that I have had my moment to take a deep breath, and savor it, and be thankful for not only Nancy, and laughter, but all the people that I care about in my life...I have to RUN out the door to get to practice on time...so, here we go again :)

  1. My fun thing was and is going to the races on Saturdays. It is a place where I can go relax and enjoy the noise of the cars as they speed past where I am sitting in the stands. I find that I concentrate on the cars more and less on myself and what may be going on in my life at the time. Also it is a good way to get away from the cell phone!

  2. My most fun thing was taking my niece, Alissa who is 2 years old and has lived with me for the past year, for a walk/run. We for 2 hours and she started out in the stroller. We walked to our house and ditched the stroller and then headed out again with a kid leash and started running. It was funny because her little legs would get tired soo fast! This was fun because it gave the two of us a chance to bond without her crying and screaming the whole time also we didn't have anyone else with us and NO CELLPHONE!!!! I really thank God for putting her in my home!

But maybe i could skip the basketball camp the next day and the 2 hour drive to rapid.

  5. Darn you I was going to talk about yesterdays shows...

I guess the most fun thing was opening night of our play when one of the actors took the cast and crew out for pizza! Yum!

  7. Tap dance class!! It is a great way to relieve stress, forget about everything else and just have FUN. So what if I can't quite do the Cincinnati step? I still have fun trying. And hopefully I won't mess up too much at the recital :)

  8. The most fun in 7-10 days... I'd say the our trip to Rochester with lacrosse team where I learned I'm most likely to out of the senior to get 5 kids, fall in to a manhole and be 1 million in debt hahaha. And just hanging out with friends while there and so on :)
I'm really greatful that I've had the opportunity to come to the us and try out things like lacrosse and get new friends etc

  9. The most fun I have had is trying to create a good vlog to put up for my very first vlog. Also, I wish I could paint my room neon green! That would be super awesome! I would have some much more fun and be happier when I go in my room! Hopefully I can see most of you guys this summer! By the way, if you want to check where the vlog will be, just ask Kelli. Lol. She will know where it will be!

  11. Hmm... Wednesday or Thursday night - I can't remember which... my dad was in Chicago with most of the family (grandma and grandpa, aunts, uncles, and a few cousins). In all, I think there were ten or eleven of them. Anyway, it was late and they were only just getting into some restaurant to eat, when they decided to call me up. Talked to my dad first, then he passed the phone around and I think I went around the whole circle at least twice! They even wanted to see if I wanted to order anything from the waitress, but that didn't work out as well... I'm still waiting for the icecream. :p

  12. I am finally back!!:D man... I've been sooo busy but it’s slowly slowing down...kinda.

Anyways, I would have to say last Saturday was a very fun/interesting day. I went over my friend Tricia's house (she’s an SR parent (: ) to help her clean her basement. But, before we started cleaning, her step-daughter Sarah just got accepted to a college in Mississippi and she wanted to go to Giant Eagle to get a lobster for them to cook to celebrate. So we went and got 2 lobsters and it was still alive… This was a first for all of us, none of use had ever made a lobster, soo it was very entertaining. So we finally get back to their house and we did everything and I must say… it was VERY funny seeing Sarah move the live lobster to the pot. Then her brother Chris did too. It was hilarious! I felt kind of bad for the lobsters… poor things. But anyways, I learned something too! When we first got the lobsters, they were a dark color, and then when you cook them they turn red. I thought that was so cool, but weird. I don’t get how that happens though, but it was cool ^_^ THEN! After all that, I got to help them clean. I LOVE to help people and help clean peoples houses or whatever they need help with. I think it is fun! The goofy thing is I like to help clean peoples houses, but I hate cleaning mine. :D I have no clue why. But yeah I had a blast! :D

  13. Dee, so here I hear (or is it hear I here) that you went to Giant Eagle and only got lobster?!! Please say it is not true!!!.....that you did NOT get GOBS while you were there (at least I think that is where Steve said you get them).

  14. My most fun thing in the last few days was doing a TV segment for a local station that is hosting a local Biggest Loser competition. I manned a phone bank for questions from the audience and even got interviewed on-air about diet and exercise. It was inspirational to see the changes the finalists have made and how their lives have changed through the journey.

  15. My fun for this week is just the relaxation I have been able to have over the weekend! I don't know about everyone else but as this school year is ending I have been EXTREMELY busy. This weekend I finally got to sit down with a good book and read. :)
Dee- LOL that sounds so funny! It sounds so much like something I would do ^_^

  16. Grrr I had a huge long thing typed and then my browser crashed!
Anyways my fun thing happened on Saturday (the people I may have met through SR but it's not SR related). I went out to eat with Maggie in Rochester to Jimmy Johns (this was my first time ever eating there.) We got to talk about all sorts of things on any and every topic. I feel like I know her so much better now. Then I went up to Dani's house in South St. Paul she is like a little sister to me! She pulled a Kelli (if you don't understand that it's okay. Jordan told me I was the most accident prone person he had ever met at MRT 2009) and was gimping around with gimpers all night. Anyways, we made a Target run at 10 at night to buy nerf guns and other random things. When we got back to her house we had a nerf gun war along with a foam sword. Her 6 shooter was no match for my 20 shooter though. It was so much fun! She smoked me a good one in the jaw though. Around 2 in the morning we decided we should go to bed, but after the lights were out we decided to have a battle with glow sticks that she bought on the Target run. It was a great time!!
Drew- I'm glad you had fun at prom. I'm so glad I decided to go to mine a couple weeks ago (even if I did find my dress to days before hand!)
Colleen-My room is purple, but bright green sounds fun too!
Sonja-I so want to make it up to your play, but I don't think it's going to happen :(
Brenda-I used to be in dance, and I loved it so I can see why you have so much fun!
Alex- I'm excited for the vlog!!!
Jovanna- Since you ordered ice cream I'm assuming you are feeling better??? I hope so! I want to see you this weekend!
Dee-I have been out of it forever too! That sounds like fun. I don't know why, but I hate cleaning my own stuff, but I love to help others clean!
Tom-That would be so cool! Did you get your woot shirt? Mom says hi. :)
Rebekah-I wish I had time to sit and read! My school stuff just pours over into the weekend, like this weekend I'm at the school for band and chorus contest and then marching band practice. Oh well I love it. Did you read anything good???

    ReplyDelete
  17. Tom- sadly no... Didn't have money with me... BUT!!! I did wave to them!! :D This lady was standing right by them and she looked at me like..."Why are you waving at me??" Then she waved back... I kind of felt stupidly dorkish ( have no clue where ther "stupidly dorkish" came from, but it works for me) after that. :D it was goofy! ^_^

Rebekah- Me 2 with school. its crazy. They just keep throwing things at us and I'm like wait.. please?!?!?! But I'm excited! This weekend I get a break for a little!! yesss!!! :D
and it was very fun day! lol :D I had a blast!

Kelli-it was indeed! and FINALLY!! someone does the same!! Everytime I say I like helping clean peopls house, people look at me like.. "wow you like to clean.. your weird." So I'm proud of being weird! :D
and that sounds like soooo much fun!!!! those nerf guns dont like me very much.. many funny/weird stories with nerf guns.

  18. I got to hang out with friends from school. I don't have many friends down here in Georgia but I have a few. They can't be compared to my SR friends but they fun to hang out with.

  19. Kelli- How in the world do you know about that? Were you at lessons last sunday??? Anyway, no. All that was before I got sick on Friday. I hope I'll see you too. Race for the cure? I won't drum, but I'm hoping to come along to support my favorite drummers. :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jovanna- No I wasn't at lessons...I'm just that good! No actualy, I was at the first show that day. By the way your pastors are pretty neat! Heck yes Race for the Cure!!! Yay for favorite drummers! I have your woot shirt and something else to give you so I hope to see you!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kelli- Heck yes! Woot! My woot shirt! And... erm... should I be apprehensive about this something else...?

  22. Well when I was first reading this I couldn't think of anything that was fun. But then as I was leaving my house I saw a pheasant in the backyard. Normally we just have rabbits, but today I saw a Ring Neck Pheasant. the part that makes it weirder is that I live in town too.

  23. Kelli - Yes, and THANKS, I got my "Woot" shirt the other day. I meant to say that as one more fun thing this week, but then everyone else would have gotten jealous.

Dee - That is so funny, the idea of you waving at the Gobs. And... I am all about being stupidly dorkish. As long as you are having fun at it. Woot on!

  24. Fun? Wow Steve that is a though question. With state finals for the past 3 weeks school had been crazy. And now we are done with state tests but in 2 weeks we have a week and a hlaf on finals!!! Today was very fun. Today we had a day to honor people with a 3.25 GPA or higher. Everyone got shirts and had a pizza and ice cream party and we got to skip 4th hour and lunch. The food was great and beign the losers me and my friends are we ate then went to our 4th hour because we have gym and we didn't want to miss game day. Then we shipped all afternoon classes and had an assembly. They recognized all people from each grade that has a 4.0 GPA. SO I got a pretty piece of paper with our school colors and my name. It wasn't the funnest but just having the whole school there with so much positive engery from state testing beign over it was great and fun in it's own way. Then I had my friends Justin, Chris, and Elizabeth over till like 11pm and we played Guitar Hero to see how bad we were and watched movies! Simple but great.

  25. Tom- haha!! Well I felt bad not buy them... I looked over and they looked so sad and lonely, so I figured I would be nice and wave! They didn't wave back though...but the lady did :D
and being stupidly dorkish is always very fun!! Definitely a wootable moment!! :D lol

Christina -that’s awesome! Sounds like you had a lot of fun!! Even the simplest things can be the most awesomest/funnest thing ever! :)

I'm going to say another fun thing that happend yesterday...not sure if we can or not but it was very intense and dramatic! Soo.. Yesterday was the Warren Relay For Life, and this one is my favorite because its big and I just love it, and I wanted to go so bad. Anyways, we had this BIG storm coming toward us and it wasn’t supposed to hit us until like 12:00. So my mom and I figure that we can go for a little while and walk around and whatnot, so we pick up my friend Lauren (she’s in sr)and we go. So Lauren and I are walking around for awhile and then they had fireworks, which were awesome! When they were done, we were just sitting and talking and there was a lot of lighting in the sky but we just thought it was heat lighting. Then all of a sudden a guy comes on the loud speaker thing and says that there is a tornado warning for us and there was a mandatory evacuation. So we both look at each other and start running like mad people trying to get back to the entrance to meet my mom. Lauren and I are running and everyone else is running the other way …. It was hilarious! So we finally meet and get in the car and it’s lighting like crazy and sirens are going off and then randomly my moms like “Lets stop and get pizza” I was like… “what? Are you serious?! No?” So we stop and get pizza (hey! Here’s another studly dorkish moment!)and then get home (we live close to where the relay was, so it wasn’t to bad) and went down stairs and stuff. But it was soo much fun! It was very intense I must say! :D good times with that one! :D Much more happened but that’s I’ll stop for now. Lol :D

  27. Dee- Yes I agree, simple things in life can be the most fun and rewarding moments in the world.

Colleen and Dee- wow that storm sounds CRAZY!!! We had awesome weather yesterday. Sounds like you 2 didn't get as lucky.

  28. Christina- amen to that! I agree 100 percent!
Yeah I love storms, but I love awesome weather more. The weather said it might snow here... I was like...NOO!!!! I hope not...I'm tired of that stuff lol :)

Colleen-lol nice!! :D That was the most coolest storm ever! Lauren and I were about to go to the car to take her home and it was like 12:00 and we thought it was over...we were wrong. lol We opened up the door and we were just waiting for my mom to walk up and then all of a sudden there was this HUGE thing of lightning that looked like it was 60 feet away from us. It was like a big bolt of lightning that froze for 5 secinds! LoL it was cooL! I wish I had my camera out to take a picture, would have been amazing!

  29. Christina- yea it was

Dee- wow!! that would have been sweet!!

I am now just going to say that we need to keep all the Tennessee sites in our prayers because some parts in Tennessee are under 6 feet of water. The grand Ole Opry Hotel is under water too!! I am keeping them in my prayers and i hope that everything is okay down there for them :)

  30. Wow, it's been a while since I've been on here. Anyways, Kelli, I'm not hurt that you couldn't come. It's quite the drive and the play was the same time as when things get crazy for high schoolers.
