Well Steve of course this song is what you are working on because it describes SR to a tee and your life connecting us all in some sort of funky way! There are the Steps to Success hidden in the words of this song!!!!! If we all don't do our part, we all fall together. If we all work together as a team.....we've made it!!!!!

Well, I see some references to rhythm and heartbeats which fits with our drumming.
ReplyDeleteI also notice how it says we're all connected. what happens to one of us happens to the world so we must work together to save it. A tragic event is going to affect all of us. (I can't really think of how to word this to fit my thoughts.)
Also, the "Get up" and "Let's go" seem like they're saying "Take action!"

ReplyDeleteWhen you think about it, life isn't just go-go-go, move forward and do what you have to do to get ahead; there's more: People and places and experiences.
I think what this song is trying to say is that there is so much great stuff in life that you can't let the non-stop movement of it get in the way of the really fun and much more important things. Live for the things that make life worth living: have fun, work together, if you fall get back up, connect and make the world amazing!
These are the things that make the world great and if everyone were to do them, the world would be a very different and much better place.

ReplyDeletein my opinion the song relates to SR by saying go ahead and do what you gotta do i believe that that you will always need a certain push to get you going in life and this song describes that to me. it also mentions that were all connected...we really are one big family even if we dont know each other in person.
I agree with everybody's answers so far on these lyrics. I didn't know you also liked Mayday Parade! Cool! Anyways, I want to add maybe more comments about the lyrics and what the meaning is to me.
ReplyDeleteThis song seems to have these connections between SR. It seems like every place listed off is a place that has different attributes and values, yet they come together as a whole to work together as a team. In a way, this seems like Sheltered Reality, with all the different sites and no matter how different we are, we all work as a team to strive to make a difference in the world for the greater good.
I also recognize some other lyrics that pop out. The part "sing it like you're screaming at me" and "i love the way you make it look so easy" are combining that we all need to stay strong together and cannot let the little things get us down. Sometimes we need to be strong to make other people know they can be strong with us, as a team.
One last thing I want to point out is this one verse:

Sometimes it isn't where you're going
It's who you're with
I see the importance of SR as being a family in this verse. When I read this line, I think of all the people I have or haven't met in SR and how much each of them mean so much to me. Us, as a group, are together through and through till the end to make a difference and to all be children under God by living out His word day by day. But not alone, but together as the group, nay, family that we are! For we fall together, but we get up together, stronger than before.

"this place is not quite what it seems"... no matter where you are you can make the place that you are at what you want it to be. You make the city, the city doesn't make itself, if you want it to be fun do it!
"Seattle hits me everytime"...you learn different things in different places if you stay in one spot your entire life, there is so much more to the world that you are missing out on.
"In this moment we are connected"... when you are with people that you are close to SUPPORT them cause you letting them fail, is letting yourself fail!

ReplyDeleteI especially liked the line "Sometimes it isn't where you're going its who you're with." It reminds me that we are a family. Whether it is at the site level or national level. This is a very good reminder of that.
This is why the blog is so awesome! I didn't see all of what everybody else saw in the song. Sometimes we all just need to bounce our ideas off each other in order to get a deeper understanding.

Well...I seems to me like this song is almost telling a life story. If you look deep into it, it seems like its telling about someone who likes to travel and where ever they go, they either find new friends or learn new lessons. They also either succeed or fall and which ever they do, they always manage to take people down with them. There may be places that we would like to be but someone else always has a plan for us and that plan isn't always visible to the naked eye so we just go on our way and make mistakes and run into problems along the way before we find out what our real purpose is in life.
ReplyDeleteThis is something that seems to occur no matter where we go in the world or no matter what we try to do. We are either pleasing people or bringing them down with us. We never really know whats in store for us on any given day, but we always need to go out and find it.
I don't know if this is the real idea of this song, but this is my outlook on it.
This song means so much in many different ways. It makes it seam like everything is connected together. It seems like god is there with you the entire time in the song.
ReplyDeletethis is a great song. mayday parade is amazing. the begining of the song it talk's about the states, and how each place taught them something. like traveling, that would be the same for steve and jordan how each place has something different to give them, and a different experience. and with each expirience it all has a connection. it brings everything and everyone together.

i like how it says to "get up" and get out and explore, meet new people, get out of your comfort zone.
i also like how it says "In this moment we're connected If we fall, we fall together", and if we can all fall together we can succeed together.
i like it i can't seem to put the music to any kind of genra by reading it i need to hear it to really get a good feel for it though

So I really like the song and my fav part is

It's who you're with <--- I really agree with it and that is something I've learnt during these 6 months in the US. The country or state or continent where one is doesn't define the person or the persons life. What matters is what they make of it and who are in their lives.
Also the way it talks about other states reminds me of like how all the states are different but contribute to the US in someway and are a nation together. And it reminds me of olymipcs where all countries come together or like when the earhquake in Haiti happened, so many people came together to help ppl in Haiti.
So that's it for now, I'm not that great at this "lets analyze" thing and I'm supposed to do my homework lol And I dont know if the whole thing made any sense but it did in my head! :)
I agree with Tonia. I looked up the song on youtube and i love the song and i could see it reaching out to our fans and it speaks out our message it may not say the direct words that we say but it still has the same meaning.

I agree with everyone on here--awesome new song! This song does describe what SR is about in several ways--it symbolizes all the places people have been affected by SR, and the way all of these people are connected to each other, each new place adding something awesome and unique to the whole..that, and the song asks people to get up, Take a Chance, and go with the beat!
