OK, time for me to find out from all of you who are on here nearly everyday now (and I am SO proud of you for it!)...besides my questions (which many more are coming) and ramblings about our travels (which I will do from time to time, since I like to scare people with that!)...what other things would you like to see on here?  I am toying with bringing back Jordan's Member of the Week but instead picking one follower each time, sending that person questions to answer, and then posting that right on the blog...so you all can learn more about each other that way.  Good idea or not?

Also, for those who do NOT know (which is everyone in the country right now)...Tom from Toledo has become our new in-between practice guru...meaning he is a great drummer, lifelong drummer, and has ways of teaching and explaining things that are hard that complement what Jordan and I do...so I think the blog will be one place that he can talk with all of you about things you are stuck on.  Good or bad idea?  (this will go along with other ways we put his skills to work digitally through the internet).

I will be asking all of you to share longer stories about SR changing you, which will become part of the show, but that will be after Easter before I do that.  Right now, we are still in the "training" phase and need to get EVERYONE used to getting on here, reading, and posting.  We are making progress, faster than I expected, but have a long ways to go yet...so I will work on that during Block 2...and then, in Block 3 we will be seeking out longer stories about changes in all of you for shows.

However, I still know there are 1,000,000 other directions that we can on here, and since this is about YOU, it is time for all of you to respond to the above suggestions BUT also give me more...what do you want to see, do, and talk about on here?

I will REALLY look forward to reading posts about this one!!

Have a good snow day off for all of those out of school.  Nasty weather for sure...glad to be home today resting and trying to get a well (again, as usual, boy am I bad Jan-Mar every year) :(

  4. Bahaha Dee you make me laugh! I'm surprised I haven't gotten a text from you today!
Steve- Yay for the blue don't fall into the peer pressure of Ben! (haha sorry Ben had to say it!) I like the member of the week idea, I have learned lots about a few members because we are on here all the time and being ourselves and talking (A LOT) but it would be nice to get to know other members. I can't really think of anything else off the top of my head to add at the moment but if you give me some time I'm SURE I could come up with some ideas! And don't encourage more snow days!!!! They are driving me crazy! I have plenty of time to practice drums but I want to go teach the 6th grade chorus like I was suposed to on Monday! :(
To All- Keep the questions coming about this blog. I have been contacted by a few of you on facebook. I am here to help you! Autumn I am working on figuring out your problem and I will let your mom know what I come up with!

  9. You guys are hilarious. Logging on is the high point of my day. Too bad I haven't got anything done today. I should do that.

Anyways, the member of the week thing is cool. Also getting advice on SR stuff would definitely be a plus.

Too many snow days? Not me. Haven't had on in years. I wish we would so I could have a day off.

  10. Hmmm... we could hold occasional friendly debates about all things SR. Which song we preform is the best/hardest/coolest, etc. Whether we think Steve should include more drum sharing or stick twirling in future songs. Whether we should bring back Eho *cough, cough* That kind of thing, you know?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm getting a vague impression that Jovanna is a fan of Eho. (I wouldn't mind learning it at some point.)

Stick twirling sounds like a recipe for me making a mess though... :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jovanna you would suggest Eho;) it's okay. I played it a couple hours ago and I thought of you!!
Dee thank you for the random text;)
Sonja stick twirls just take practice!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Kelli- Good to hear. I'm trying to twirl one of my drumsticks right now. I'm hoping I don't put a drumstick though my laptop screen. That would be fun to explain. :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Amanda-Inded we do! woot
Sonja- i agree with you. I wish we had a snowday. we havnt had 1 yet. >_< and stick twirling is amazing. I agree with Kelli. It does take prac. Jordan said to sit down, watch a movie, and prac twirling your stick. start off slow and speed up. Don't look at it tho. that how i learned. :D
    Jovanna-I AGREE!!! :D
    Kelli- your welcome lol. :D
man i need a new smiley face. lol. ill find something. i love them so much!! ^_^

  20. Thanks, Dee! Excited about helping to teach, but you will have to teach me what "woot" means. Always looking for woot-able moments in my day. About the best part of today was my breakfast drink. Yes, you guessed it; woot-Tang! OK, let's all groan together. I am all for bringing Eho back. It looks awesome and I never got a chance to learn it, but glad a lot of the elements survived, in Pirates and the "new song". And, finally, thanks to Steve for the opportunity to serve in this new role. I am excited. Dare I say, WOOT!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dee- I forgot about that one. =^.^= So cute. I also like @->--. It's supposed to be a rose but doesn't always look like it in some fonts.

  23. I think that bringing the Member of the Weeks back is a great idea! I love learning about other people and their interests. I also love the idea of Tom helping us out on here! I know I am going to have alot of questions for him. UMMMMM I really can not think of anything to add on here. I do really enjoys reading about all the shows and the traveling.

Tom- I am giving you a heads up I have lots of questions!!!! I am very glad that I drumed with you at your first show. You are an amazing drumer and I am so glad that we get to pick your brain!!!! haha

  37. I love the idea of the Member of the Week. A great way to learn about one another. I also like the suggestion of throwing out challenges in the form of a game or riddle or problem to solve (fill in the blank. get it? fill! as in drum fill? oh, never mind). How about a chain story? How about "build a story" where the moderator starts a story and each contributor continues it? A little exercise in creativity, and you might be amazed with what you end up with. It will be a challenge since blogs tend to get off track from the original message, but I be we are up to the challenge. We could spin in several ways, from pure fiction to science fiction to autobiographical (or at least BASED ON life experiences so far). Anything but trashy romance novel stuff. lol. Oh! Oh! We could also build a song! Line by line. Imagine the possibilities!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Tom-You are one of the main people I would love to meet! You are full of energy and an amazing drummer(I have heard the stories). It would be awesome to play along with you at shows. By the way, I have been teaching for more than a few years at different sites. Mind having a mini-convo with me sometime on what advice you have. I would love to share ideas! By the way, you have a great idea with the chain story or creating a song, line by line! Awesome ideas.
Everybody-I would love to talk more to everybody on here! Chat with me some time. I am always here to talk and chat with anybody. Plus, I am really friendly, so don't be shy!
One more thing for everybody and suggestion for Steve-maybe we could talk about what everybody does to get pumped up before shows, lessons, etc. Then, maybe we could have pre-warmups before lessons and shows to get everybody pumped and energetic for the show. Especially getting everybody smiling before the show and keeping it there! Woot!(It spreads like wildfire!)
Ben and Kelli-I liked the blue. Haha
    Take care everybody!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Tom-I second what Alex said about talking with you about leading practice, except unlike him I have been teaching for about a year.
Alex-I like the pump up idea specialy in our area;) I like the blue as well thank you very much!
Dee-You and Alex will get along easily! He and I are similar in some ways (which can be scary at sometimes!)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Dee- Today I shot a bullseye in archery and I was like "WOOT! Bullseye!"
Tom- I LOVE the build a song idea. I write songs as a hobby.
Alex- Getting everyone pumped up is a good idea!

sonja- LoL Good job!! :D YAYYY!!! LoL

  45. Alex - thanks and blush. Would love to talk to you and Kelli about sharing ideas for practices. And would be great to meet all of you fine folks. I am going to try my hardest to get to Mt. Rushmore this year. I have not had the chance yet and I hear the group practice is an amazing experience.
I also loved the idea of sharing ways to get pumped up before performances. Everyone is different. Some like to be on their own to go over the songs in their head. Others like to talk it up to relieve the stress. Maybe we could work up a "show before the show" routine that allows us (or even just a select sub-group)to interact with the audience before we start. Remember, we are all about connections, and have the audience in our corner from the very start will make the message all that much more powerful. Cirque du Soliel does this and it makes the time before start time very much fun. Some say it is the favorite part of the experience.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Tom-I like the idea of interacting with the audience before the show. I know that at a UCC show I went to last year I had made connections with some of the kids that were at previous shows and we were able to eat lunch with them and be ourselves and they introduced me to other people. I was the lonely Iowan (other than Steve and Jordan) and by the time I got home the next day I had more facebook friend requests.
Dee-I have a major SOS moment today! The elementary school principal called me during my first hour class asking if I would substitute teach the music teacher position for their chorus class. Yes, I am extremely nervous! I have baby-sat a lot of these kids so next hour will be very interesting! Oh, we have the sixth grade social studies teacher coming in so we will be legal for all the adults that may be reading this!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Tom, you MUST go to MTR...enough said there :)

Kelli..wow...good for you (subbing for the chorus class)...you can do it! Believe in Yourself :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Tom- i agree with Steve.. YOU HAVE TO!! its amazing! You will LoVe it! I know I did! :D

Kelli- i agree with steve on this one too!lol. I know you can do it! just believe in yourself and never give up! SOS. :) you probably had an awesome time! how did it go??

    ReplyDelete
  49. Tom-I agree with both Steve and Dee!!!! It is such a neat expirence!
Steve and Dee-Thanks! It went really well! It was so fun! I'm pretty sure I will be sticking with the double major next year. I got really excited about one of the songs they are singing and after we got done I said "woot." They looked at me like I'm crazy and asked if I really said that. I just laughed, and if they don't know my strangeness by now they must not be from Lake Mills! :)
Steve-I have a feeling one of us will acidently let woot slip on Monday. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Kelli-Thats good. I knew it!!:D thats exciting. Coo Coo Ca Choo. ;P LoL :D LoL and all I have to say is there just jealous that then don't say woot. ;P i know it. lol! Only coolieo people say it ^_^ and...I wanna know if one of you guys do!! LoL :D

Dee- Ive been saying it all the time now :) haha and its all thanks to you :P

    ReplyDelete
  52. Colleen- No worries, I have the same problem with my brother (except it's my computer so I get dibs, but he begs incessantly). I spend as much time on here as I do on Facebook sometimes. (I need a life...)

    ReplyDelete

  54. Sonja- Yea mine is obbessed with this game called Runescape or something like that. its so stupid. *rolling eyes* i cant wait to get a laptop, then i dont have to worry about him.

Dee- Yes you are :) are you going to that show in May? because i wanna go but i need to practice the songs and i dont have speakers loud enough. so im just kinda playing tham in my head right now (and on my desks at school) :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Colleen- I think I am going to the show. And if you want me and you can prac. You can come over here or something. we can make it work! ill prac with you tho. :) it will be fun!! maybe we can prac at my church. We will have more room. Ill have to see. 61. Sonja, Colleen, and Dee-I went to practice with Steve an Jordan in Rochester today and if Steve ever mentioned the blog, Ohio, or the ennie-minne-colleenie beat I just started laughing because I would start thinking about the amazing conversations that we have been having on here! Woot woot. Speaking of woot woot, neither Steve nor I said it today, we had lots of Cobra talk though! ;)

We probably won't be able to have the church, but as long as you guys are willing to carry the equipment to my van (I'm not allowed to carry it anymore) I'm willing! I think I'm free the last two Saturday's in February. Would you please tell your Mom that I have dues from 3 members. Thanks. Miss you! Can't wait for your games to be over! Although I'm sure you're having fun! Yeah team! Woot! (Had to put that for Miss Dee)

Tom - Mount Rushmore is a blast. Especially the 25 hour drive with a van full of kids! Great bonding time. Are you planning on flying or are you going to be daring and do the 25 hour drive with us? :o)
